Grocery

Your list. Your price memory.

Privacy policy · October 2, 2026 · Android package com.grocerypricememory.app

Grocery is operated by Michael Phillips. It helps you keep a shopping list, scan receipts, and compare your own recorded grocery purchases. Receipt prices are historical evidence, not guaranteed current store offers.

Information stored on your device

Shopping-list items, checked status, purchase prices, stores or branches you enter, purchase dates, receipt fingerprints, remembered product names, the time you first use the app, and purchase-access status are stored locally on your device. No Grocery account is required. Grocery does not send your lists, receipt images, recognized receipt text, or saved prices to the developer or to advertising providers.

Automatic cloud backup and device-transfer backup of app data are excluded. Android's app-storage protections apply; the app does not add a separate layer of database encryption.

Photos and receipt recognition

You select an image through Android's system photo picker or take a photo with your camera app. Grocery does not request broad photo-library access. Receipt recognition runs on your device using bundled Google ML Kit. Receipt images and recognized text are not uploaded for recognition.

Camera captures are temporarily stored in app cache and removed after recognition. Interrupted or cancelled captures may remain until app cache is cleared. Original images selected from your library are not deleted. You review recognized items before saving them to price history.

Google ML Kit diagnostics

Although recognition is local, Google ML Kit may collect operational and usage information such as device and app characteristics, per-installation identifiers, performance measurements, API configuration, input and output sizes, feature versions, event types, and error codes. Google states this data is encrypted in transit. Google's retention and deletion practices apply. See ML Kit's data disclosure, ML Kit terms and privacy, and Google's privacy policy.

Advertising

Grocery uses Google AdMob to display banner advertisements. Google Mobile Ads and its partners may process IP address, approximate location inferred from IP, app and ad interactions, diagnostics, device or advertising identifiers, and related information to provide, measure, limit, personalize, and protect advertising, depending on your consent choices and applicable law. This information is encrypted in transit. The free version may display advertisements. Buying lifetime app access disables advertising in Grocery on that device after the purchase is verified or restored.

Consent and privacy choices

Grocery uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request consent where required and to provide applicable advertising privacy choices. When available, you can reopen those choices from the app's Privacy screen. Google controls its advertising records; deleting Grocery's local data does not erase information already processed by Google.

Free access and Google Play purchases

Grocery provides two weeks of free launch access, followed by a full two-week trial for each user. There is no automatic charge when free access ends. Google Play handles the optional US $4.99 one-time lifetime-access purchase and any locally converted price. Grocery receives product information and signed purchase records to verify and restore access. The developer does not receive your payment-card details. The purchase is not a subscription, has no recurring charge, and removes advertising from Grocery after verification. Google Play retains transaction records under its own policies.

Delete your local data

Open Privacy → Delete all local data in Grocery to erase lists, saved purchases, receipt records, and remembered names. You can also clear the app's storage in Android settings or uninstall it. This does not delete original photos, Google advertising or transaction records, or support emails.

Support and external links

If you email support, we receive the address, message, and attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond and resolve app issues. Please avoid sending unredacted receipts containing personal details. You may request deletion of support correspondence, subject to records needed for legal obligations or unresolved disputes.

External links open in your browser and are governed by the destination's privacy practices. The website host may process ordinary access logs when you visit this policy page.

Audience and updates

Grocery is a general consumer shopping tool and is not directed to children under 13. This policy will be updated before material changes to the app's data practices.
